Mound City kept the dream season rolling, while Glasgow’s took a nosedive after the Lady Panthers grinded out a 57-52 win in the MSHSAA Class 1 girls semifinals Saturday night at the Hearnes Center on the University of Missouri campus in Columbia.

Both teams struggled shooting early and often. Mound City only hit 20% of its shot attempts in the first half but still led 22-19 after a half. Glasgow knocked down just one first-half three- pointer and missed two of six free throws.

Both teams improved drastically after halftime, each shooting over 47% and splashing home three triples. A huge night from Kendey Eaton proved to be the difference, as the guard hit nine-of-23 shots, including two threes, and score a game-high 25 points.

Tess Phillips also hit a pair of treys and scored 14 points for Mound City. Emily Wedlock piled up 10 points and nine rebounds for the Lady Panthers, who improve to 29-1 and will play Naylor for the Class 1 girls’ state championship Saturday night at Mizzou Arena.

Jaden Monnig paced Glasgow by also scoring 25 points and grabbing 10 rebounds. Devyn Yung also netted a double-double with 11 points and 12 boards. Glasgow shot 43.8% from the field and just 40% from the free throw line in the loss.

The Lady Jackets fall to 24-6 on the season. Glasgow plays Walnut Grove for third place tonight at Mizzou Arena.
