Michael Porter Jr. (Gatorade National Player of Year!) commits to play for Mizzou!!

The wait is over. The nation’s top player has announced his decision, Michael Porter Jr. is heading home to play for Missouri.

Porter requested a release from his letter of intent at Washington and will return to Columbia, Missouri, where he started his high school career, and join the Tigers next season. Missouri head coach Cuonzo Martin hired Porter’s father, Michael Porter Sr., as an assistant coach on Thursday. Porter Sr. spent the 2016-17 campaign as an assistant coach at Washington under Lorenzo Romar, who was fired by the Huskies on March 15. The 6-foot-10 Porter spent his first three prep seasons at Father Tolton (MO) before leading Nathan Hale (WA) to a perfect 29-0 record and Washington 3A state title as a senior. His brother, Jontay, the No. 23 prospect for 2018, could join him as well. The entire state of Missouri is buzzing about what this means to the Mizzou Tiger Basketball program! Welcome home Michael!!
